because everyone deserves good cookies
In 1997, Eden Hertzog turned her passion for baking and love for adventure into a business making healthy and delicious cookies. Freshly out of high school, Eden had two objectives: gain new experiences through travel, and do something creative with her life that would benefit others.
While in school, Eden had been working part-time as the baker in a vegan café. There, she developed her own vegan baked goods recipes. Eventually, she created a micro business called “Eden’s Edibles” and with the help of her father-turned-delivery-driver, started selling her creations around town. She was able to use the proceeds from her business to finance the first of her many trips to California. Later, Eden decided to focus on baking cookies only, changing the name of the business to “New Moon Kitchen”. Her New Moon Cookies were the first packaged vegan cookies on the market in Toronto.
It turns out that Eden had the right read on her market. Today, New Moon Kitchen boasts a sizeable team and dedicated space in a bright, sunny, ancient warehouse in Toronto, Ontario. She continues to produce cookies using her original vegan recipes, while experimenting with new products all the time. Today, New Moon Kitchen offers cookies that are dairy, egg, nut and peanut free as well as kosher pareve (contains neither meat nor dairy). This means that anyone, regardless of their dietary restrictions, can enjoy a good cookie! New Moon Cookies offers two product lines, one made with spelt flour, and the other gluten free. Since having children of her own, Eden has also produced a sugar-free granola bar and toddler cookie.
You can find Eden’s baking in specialty stores across Canada or you can order online from the website.
